The plant at Tansterne

The purpose of the plant is to use the vast surplus of straw produced in Holderness as a by-product of arable production.  This is currently baled for bedding etc or chopped and ploughed back into the land.  It is proposed to pay local farmers to supply the plant.

Indicative layout

Straw supplies and access

Straw will be procured throughout Holderness.  Access will be via a dedicated new access road running east from the power station to the B1238 between Aldbrough and Flinton.  Lorry movements would dissipate along the B1238 to link to all areas of Holderness.
