November 2010: reserved matters

When planning approval was granted by the Secretary of State, conditions were imposed requiring further details to be submitted to the planning authority. GB-BIO has now developed the project to a level of detail needed to satisfy these conditions. These include such areas as:

  • details of the site access road;
  • the building layout and finshes;
  • landscape planting and mounding;
  • noise and air quality assessments;

The reserved matters were submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council on 3rd November 2010. A decision on the conditions and the granting of full planning permission is expected in February 2011.

March 2010: gb-bio appoints client's engineer

In order to take the project forward to the next stage, where it is capable of passing due diligence assessments by funders and permitting authorities, GB-BIO has appointed a world-class engineering consultancy to oversee the design of the Tansterne CHP Plant. The consultancy has extensive international experience in the design, development and construction of CHP plants and other forms of renewable energy. Upon making the appointment, Richard Caley, GB-BIO's Managing Director, said

We are delighted to have appointed such a high-profile and competent consultancy, who can take this project on to the next stage. They undoubtedly have the skills and experience necessary to deal with all of the project's questions and technical issues. I have no doubt that they are the right people for the job, and I am looking forward to working with them.

February 2010: feedstock supply agreements

GB-BIO has entered into supply agreements for substantial amounts of straw feedstock with local landowners and farmers. The current agreements represent more than half of the straw requirement for the Plant. Richard Caley, GB-BIO's Managing Director, said

Initial agreements, to supply a substantial portion of our feedstock requirements, have been reached earlier than I expected in this process. It is a great sign of things to come and a real confidence booster - both for ourselves, our investors, and other suppliers. I am very pleased with this development and look forward to working with other farmers, landowners and suppliers in the area, to complete our requirements for the plant.

If you would like to discuss supplying straw feedstock to the plant, get in touch with Richard now. These things do take time to organise, so don't wait.
